Conventional cotton farming and garment production have negative impacts on the environment and the farmers and workers who earn their livelihood in the textile industry. Cotton fields occupy less than 3% of the world's cultivated land but consume about 25% of all insecticides and 10% of all herbicides. The cultivation of cotton heavily relies on chemical substances that are banned in food production. Cotton is one of the most genetically modified plants, primarily to withstand above-average doses of chemicals. The production of one T-shirt and a pair of jeans consumes around half a kilogram of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. In organic cotton farming and production, the use of toxic chemicals that cause poisoning in agricultural workers and harm the environment, as well as genetically modified organisms, is prohibited. Certified farms strive to develop a biologically diverse agricultural system and maintain soil fertility naturally. Unlike conventionally grown cotton, organic cotton does not cause allergic reactions, making it suitable for children, allergy sufferers, individuals with eczema, and those with sensitive skin. The cultivation of organic cotton is monitored and controlled from seed to the final fabric processing, including sewing. ECO-FRIENDLY WASHING INSTRUCTIONS FOR ORGANIC COTTON: If a stain appears on organic cotton, treat it before washing with GALL SOAP or OLIVE SOAP WITH LEMON EXTRACT. Cotton materials benefit from washing with SOAP NUTS—they remain soft and breathable. You can also use SOAP NUT LIQUID DETERGENT for washing. We recommend using soap slime only in soft water conditions. We recommend washing at 40 ºC. Shrinkage up to 5%. We do not use fabric softener on natural materials as it settles on the fibers and reduces their absorbency.
